“Mellow Down Easy” is what we can consider a Blues standard. A tune that if you play Blues or harmonica you must know. No excuse. Written by Willie Dixon for the great late Little Walter, this is a favorite of a lot of Blues fellows.
BUT as you may know, Riccardo and the band don’t like to follow a standard path (“it’s like doing your homework…you do that but you gotta put something more to excel” is Riccardo’s philosphy on this) and for this reason they started to mess around with Paul Butterfield version.?
This version you are going to listen was a work in progress: if you come to a live concert today, you’ll hear how the band worked on this tune and changed it again from the one recorded here.
That’s the magic of the music: it never stops to flow and it always evolving, right? So enjoy that moment we recorded and – as soon as we can do that again – come to enjoy the new version at one of the shows…
